It is believed the former Everton boss has drawn up a masterplan he trusts will revive Barca’s fortunes both domestically and in Europe which involves switching formation from 4-2-3-1 to 4-3-3.

Koeman is also considering giving important roles to Coutinho, Pedri and Francisco Trincao.

Barcelona didn’t have a pre-season due to their run to last season’s Champions League quarter finals – the Catalans were humiliated 8-2 by eventual winners Bayern Munich which led to former manager Quique Setien being sacked and being replaced by the Dutchman.

The new Spanish season started just a month later in September and that left the new Barca boss with little time to implement his ideas and build relationships with players.

Koeman has given opportunities to those he feels have merited them whist being mindful of the need to build a settled starting XI.

After a rocky start, he is ready to change the ways of doing things and will attempt to get Barcelona back to winning ways in LaLiga when they host Levante on Sunday night.
