Gerard Deulofeu has hailed Barcelona legend Ronaldinho as the greatest player of all time ahead of his former team-mate Lionel Messi.

Deluofeu, who is currently on loan at Udinese from Watford, briefly shared the pitch with Messi during his four years at the Nou Camp and described him as an ‘incredible person’.

But the forward, who has enjoyed loan spells with Everton, Sevilla and AC Milan, believes Ronaldinho is the best of all time, despite Messi being Barca’s all time leading goalscorer.

‘For me Ronaldinho is the best player ever,’ he told Marca.

‘I met him. I went to watch a game at the Camp Nou and he was sitting next to me. It was a wonderful experience.’ 

Ronaldinho scored 91 goals and made 71 assists in 207 appearances for the Catalans between 2003 and 2008.

Messi, who remains the current club captain, has an incredible 635 goals. He’s also made 279 assists in his 734 appearances.

Deluofeu has not played since tearing his cruciate ligament against Liverpool in February and initially struggled to find secure a summer move before Udinese took a chance on him.

The 26-year-old admitted he had ‘missed the field a lot’ during his time on the sidelines but has been working hard in order to return to action soon.
