The Roads Not Taken tells the story of a day in the life of Leo (Javier) and his daughter Molly (Elle) as he floats through alternative lives that he could have lived.

Following the screening of the film, the stars sat down for a press conference to discuss the project.

Salma’s appearance at the film festival comes after she recently hit back at an Instagram user who told her she had had ‘too much Botox’.

The actress posted a seaside snap of herself at the beach, prompting one person to comment: ‘Too much Botox. Not needed Salma!’

The Dusk Till Dawn star responded in good humour to the jibe, writing: ‘I don’t have Botox but thank you for the advice because I was thinking maybe it’s time.’

It comes after Salma previously opened up to InStyle about ‘how big of a risk it was to come to the United States in the first place and start again as an actress.’

The actress was ‘doing really well’ on the soap circuit in Mexico before she came to the United States to start a career in film, but her eyes were set on the prize – directing and acting for the big screen.

She opened up to the outlet on her struggle to launch Frida, a film that she produced and was later nominated for at the Oscars.

‘I had to fight for eight years to get Frida off the ground. Nobody wanted to make a story about a Mexican Communist artist with one eyebrow. It was really hard. But I had a vision for it. And I’m proud that I produced it too.

‘There was no “Oh, can I please have a credit?” No, no, no. I made that s*** happen.’
