Sarah Jayne Dunn and husband Jonathan Smith put on a loved-up display as they hold hands on walk

Hollyoaks’ Sarah Jayne Dunn and her husband Jonathan Smith put on a loved-up display as they hold hands during a romantic countryside stroll

They tied the knot during a romantic ceremony at The Holford Estate in Cheshire in May 2018.

And Sarah Jayne Dunn was in high spirits when she enjoyed a romantic stroll hand-in-hand with her husband Jonathan Smith in Alderley Edge, Cheshire on Thursday.

Wearing a grey jumper and jeans, the Hollyoaks star, 39, nailed casual chic on her outing, while Jonathan caught the eye in a bright yellow sweatshirt.

The happy couple were accompanied by their beloved pet pug, which Sarah held on the lead.

Teaming her jumper-and-jeans combo with a pair of trainers, the soap star dressed for comfort as she explored the countryside on foot.

Sarah wore her blonde hair loose and accessorised with a delicate necklace.

The couple welcomed their first child Stanley in August 2016, although the little lad was nowhere to be seen.

Sarah has long been known on Hollyoaks for her role as Mandy Richardson.

Speaking about Mandy’s recent Valentine’s Day proposal to boyfriend Darren Osborne, Sarah admitted such a grand romantic gesture ‘wouldn’t be her thing’.

She told The Mirror in February: ‘I don’t like massive romantic gestures so a proposal like Mandy’s would definitely not be my thing.’

However Sarah did admit she and her husband of three years leave each other ‘silly notes’ around the house.

She sweetly added: ‘We leave each other silly notes – that’s romance in our house. And gestures like, “Oh you put the bins out – brill!” “Oh you’ve done the dishwasher – amazing!” For me, that’s romance. They’re the things that tick my boxes.’

Since welcoming her son in 2016, Sarah has since embarked on an intense fitness journey.

Speaking exclusively to MailOnline last year, the star revealed she was motivated to transform her physique after ‘everything got bigger’ during pregnancy and that she wanted to tone up in preparation for her wedding.

Elsewhere, Sarah revealed last October that her son Stanley had been rushed to hospital and she was having an ’emotionally draining’ week.

Alongside a picture of herself on set with Stephanie Waring, she wrote: ‘I’ve had the most emotionally draining & stressful week of my life. I can’t wait for my little man to be back to full health first & foremost.

‘Then I can’t wait to be back on set doing a job that I love & working with people that make me smile. Love ya @stephwaring Fingers crossed it won’t be much longer before I’m back.’

Sarah chose not to disclose what illness her son had in the post, which she tagged as being at the Royal Bolton Hospital.
