Schalke 0-4 Bayern Munich: Robert Lewandowski banks 500th career goal as Thomas Muller nets double to send Bundesliga leaders seven points clear

  • Leaders Bayern Munich travelled to 18th placed Schalke on Sunday afternoon 
  • Thomas Muller scored first after 33 minutes from Joshua Kimmich’s cross
  • Robert Lewandowski then scored his 500th senior goal in the 54th minute   
  • Muller added another header before David Alaba scored a late long-ranger  

Robert Lewandowski‘s 500th career goal helped Bayern Munich canter past Bundesliga basement boys Schalke, moving the leaders seven points clear at the top.

The Pole joins Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Zlatan Ibrahimovic as the only active players to reach the milestone, scoring from on-the-spin after 54 minutes.

By that point Bayern were already ahead, with Thomas Muller nodding in a wonderful cross from Joshua Kimmich after 33 minutes.  

Schalke suffered a late collapse to turn the score-line into a rout, with Muller rising for another header before Ralf Fahrmann spilled David Alaba’s long-range effort in the final seconds.
