‘There was so much body contact,’ Schapelle said.

‘I don’t like people touching me, so that was an issue I had to overcome. I really struggled with that in the first few weeks.’

Schapelle added that she had no idea just how gruelling the show would be and once thought, ‘what the hell have I signed up for?’

After she made her debut on the show on Sunday night, Schapelle told co-host Sonia Kruger how she was ‘so nervous’ that she was ‘crying’ backstage.

But after performing the Viennese waltz with dance partner Shae Mountain, she had nothing to worry about after impressing the judges and viewers alike.

Judge Todd McKenney admitted to Schapelle that he thought she was ‘going to be crap’, and in a self-deprecating style, Schapelle admitted that she was ‘feeling the same’.

Before hitting the dance floor, Schapelle said in a piece to camera that she wanted to give the competition her all.

‘My hopes for this season of Dancing With The Stars is to make it to the end, and also lose some weight,’ she said.

‘My fear is to be knocked out, and I’m up against the All Stars. I have had a tough decade and I’m here to really experience it.’
