  • Manchester City clinched the Premier League title in 2012 after beating QPR
  • Sergio Aguero’s stoppage-time strike saw City pip rivals United to the trophy
  • His dramatic goal was accompanied by iconic commentary from Martin Tyler
  • Tyler and Aguero met recently with the City ace handed Tyler’s detailed notes

Sergio Aguero immortalised himself at Manchester City with his infamous title-winning goal against Queens Park Rangers in 2012 – and the striker will now be able to remember the moment forever thanks to a special gift.

Sky Sports commentator Martin Tyler provided the perfect backdrop for the final day drama, with his cry of ‘Aguero!’ accompanying the strike and wild celebrations that led to City’s first taste of top-flight glory in 44 years.

And now, almost a decade on, the two men have met in person with Tyler giving Aguero his intricate handwritten notes for that match.

Sergio Aguero will now forever be able to remember his famous goal against QPR with a gift

‘AGUEROOOOO! Martin Tyler! The voice of my goal on QPR. Thank you for gifting me your personal notes on this match 93:20,’ Aguero posted on Twitter.

In perhaps City’s best ever game, the champions netted twice in stoppage time to secure a 3-2 win over QPR and edge ahead of rivals Manchester United in the most jaw-dropping fashion.

Aguero tucking beyond goalkeeper Paddy Kenny sparked one of the most iconic commentary lines ever from Tyler, who loudly insisted, ‘I swear you’ll never see anything like this again.’

Both City and United found themselves on 86 points on that day, but were separated by goal difference. The blue half of Manchester needed to at least match United’s result against Sunderland, a 1-0 win, to clinch the trophy.

The rest is history, of course, and Aguero has taken home Tyler’s blow-by-blow account on every player who featured on the occasion, complete with a neat photo frame.

The present is a fitting way for Aguero to round off his trophy-laden career at the Etihad, with the 32-year-old ace to leave the club at the end of the season.

His final appearance for City looks set to come in the Champions League final against Chelsea – the only major trophy which has so far eluded him during his time in England.

Former Atletico Madrid man Aguero is City’s all-time top scorer, but his effort on that fateful day in the 93rd minute remains his most important act to date for the club.

With his departure imminent, Aguero has two more games left before his exit – a fixture against Everton on the last day of the Premier League campaign, and then the date with destiny against Chelsea.

Reports have claimed, meanwhile, that Aguero has agreed terms to join Barcelona on a free transfer this summer.

According to Beteve, Aguero will move to the Nou Camp on a two-year deal. It is even believed that the frontman lowered his salary demands to help push the switch over the line.

Aguero was said to be earning £12million a year at City, but his contract with Barcelona will instead see him earn £4.4m.

Should the transfer happen, Aguero may potentially find himself playing alongside international team-mate Lionel Messi at club level.
