Sergio Aguero expressed his delight after returning to the scoresheet in Manchester City‘s victory against Crystal Palace.

The striker, who is set to leave City in the summer, scored his first goal since March and also managed to complete 90 minutes.

City’s 2-0 win, in which Ferran Torres also scored, means that Pep Guardiola’s side will win the Premier League title if Manchester United fail to beat Liverpool on Sunday.

Aguero told BT Sport: ‘Finally I could play. I am so happy because for a long time I have not played 90 minutes.

‘The goal was good because maybe we can win the Premier League now. We will wait for tomorrow. Of course if Liverpool win it is better!’

Aguero hopes he can play a part in the second leg of City’s Champions League semi-final against PSG.

He said: ‘Always I am ready. I am feeling good, my knee is so good. If I don’t play on Tuesday it doesn’t matter, I want to be with my team-mates. Of course every player wants to play but we will see.’

It isn’t currently clear where Aguero will be playing next season but it is clear that the 32-year-old is determined to finish his spell at City in style.

Aguero’s goal was of a very high standard and he could still make a major contribution for City before the end of the campaign.

However, it remains to be seen whether Guardiola will call upon Aguero against PSG, with the City boss having often not started a natural striker at times this season.

Aguero was an unused substitute as City won 2-1 against PSG in the first leg in Paris.

This season Aguero has struggled with injuries and illness but has still managed to score four goals in 16 appearances.
