First Dates viewers were left in shock after one of the singletons looking for love admitted that she has been on over eighty first dates.

In last night’s episode of the Channel 4 show, Dawn. 45, who was matched with groundsman Paul, 42, both from Ipswich, admitted: ‘I have been on well over eighty first dates – not many second dates. They all just come across as very, very immature, the Ipswich guys.

And those who tuned in were left gobsmacked by the revelation – with many questioning how she’s had time to fit them all in.

‘How do you find the time for EIGHTY first dates love…’ asked one, while a second commented: ’80 first dates .. I’d rather stay single.’

When Fred asked whether she does much dating, Dawn replied: ‘Yes. I love dating,’ before going on to explain why she thought the First Dates restaurant would be different.

‘I pick my own dates,’ Dawn explained. ‘And I’m not a very good judge I don’t think. I need to change the type of guy I usually date.

Recalling one particularly memorable date, she said: ‘I went on a date once and he told me he was an entrepreneur…turned out he was a pig farmer and we spent the whole date with him telling me the name of each of his pigs.’

Dawn then went on to describe her ideal type in a man.

‘I like the silver fox look. when it comes to eye colour, bright bright blue where you can just read their sole,’ she said.

But viewers, who were initially shocked by the number of dates Dawn had been on, soon learned the reason behind her dating history.

‘I was in a situation where every aspect of my life was fully controlled,’ she explained. ‘I was picked up every morning, driven to work, made to meet him for lunch every day and made to answer my phone every night.’

She continued: ‘if I didn’t pick up his call I would be left message after message…I wasn’t allowed friends, or leave my house. You lose your life and you just accept that’s the way you are.

‘My dating history has got a lot to do with that situation. If someone shows a bit of controlling behaviour, it unnerves me a bit.’
