A thrifty traveler has caused a stir on social media after revealing her unusual money-saving luggage hack.

Faith Collins took to TikTok to show her followers how she got her belongings from Westminster, Colorado, to Boynton Beach, Florida, for a fraction of the usual price.

She revealed that rather than pay the $150 to check in a bag with Spirit Airlines she instead decided to ship her baggage ahead of time for just $34.33.

But social media users have been fiercely split over whether they think the nifty trick is actually worth it.

The voiceover reads: ‘Lets see how much it costs to ship my luggage to Florida versus paying $150 to Spirit Airlines.’

She clarified in the caption that ‘the rest will fit in my backpack.’

Faith then proceeds to tape the box shut before writing out her address details and carrying the parcel to the postal depot.

At the end of the video, the bargain hunter revealed that it cost just $34.33 to send the box to her holiday destination, saving herself more than $100 when compared to check-in luggage fees.

The clip, which has so far racked up more than 2.3 million views, was quickly flooded with comments – but opinions were divided.

There were many who were mesmerized by the revelation and praised Faith for sharing such a handy tip.

One user wrote: ‘Ultimate life hack. You win. That’s it.’

Another said: ‘I am never leaving this app! This is great!!!’

And others praised her for being ‘very smart’ and jokingly urged her to ‘keep this hack a secret.’

But there were some viewers who were left a little underwhelmed by Faith’s cost-effective technique.

Many were quick to not only question her packing style, but also warned her against trusting the mailing service to get her parcel to its destination on time – if at all.

One user wrote that she was ‘brave putting those bottles mixed in with your clothes unprotected.’

Another added: ‘You’re putting a lot of faith in the postal system by not putting all that in a waterproof bag first.’

Others said that it was likely that the ‘box arrives after you are back home’ and another warned: ‘That’s how I lost all of my favorite belongings.’

Shortly after posting her first video, Faith shared a follow-up clip in which she appeared to call Spirit Airlines to request the price of checking in luggage, having been questioned over her initial claims.

And, sure enough, the woman on the other end of the line confirmed there would be a $150 cost for checking bags in before take-off.

Faith then swiftly ended the call and gave a knowing look to camera, having silenced many of her doubters.
