Sports Illustrated Swimsuit star Brooks Nader is called a slut for wearing a sheer dress

Brooks Nader has clapped back at an online troll who branded her a ‘slut’ and accused her of ‘asking to be abused’ after she wore a sheer mini-dress to the Sports Illustrated Sportsperson of the Year Awards.

The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Rookie modeled a one-shoulder dress by Bronx and Banco that was made of nude-colored mesh and adorned with crystals when she worked the red carpet at Monday night’s ceremony, which honored soccer star Megan Rapinoe.

Brooks, 22, wore a pair of cheeky skin-toned underwear and what appeared to be pasties underneath the bold frock that showed off her incredible figure. While many people were fans of the sexy look, she received a few disturbing comments after she posted photos of herself at the event on Instagram

‘Had so much fun celebrating the bad a** @mrapinoe at @sportsillustrated SportsPerson of the Year awards!’ she captioned two images of herself posing in the see-through dress.

‘Why do women like you wear see thru clothes, then get mad when men treat them likes sluts? I guess you dont [sic],’ one person cruelly commented.

‘I wore this dress because I wanted to and it made me feel sexy, maybe that’s not empowering to you but is it to me,’ Brooks wrote back.

Many people leaped to the model’s defense, and some wrongly assumed the critic harassing the model was a man, prompting the woman to double down on her comments.

‘I’m a woman. I love being a woman and I love men. This picture isn’t sexy, she is asking to be abused. Why cant you people see this. Have you never heard of the me too movement? [sic]’ she asked.

‘Also, if you don’t like people commenting on your picture….you need to grow some thicker skin,’ she wrote in another comment.

The woman went on to insist her Instagram account is not ‘fake,’ explaining she created it to specifically shame Brooks after she saw a picture of her at the awards ceremony in a Fox News article.

‘I never post on Instagram and don’t intend to after this comment. I stand by everything I have written on here,’ she wrote. ‘Wearing a total see through dress is asking to be raped. She probably already has used her body to get ahead…I call it as I see it, popular or not. [sic]’

The woman’s unrelenting attack led Brooks to block her and share her reasoning on her Instagram Story.

The Louisiana native posted a screenshot of the woman’s comments, writing: ‘I try not to get involved in the negative comments but saying that I am ‘asking to be abused’ by wearing the dress I chose is unacceptable and disturbing and gets a block.’

A few online trolls shared similar sentiments to the ones posted by the woman, but Brooks didn’t respond to them. Most of the comments were overwhelmingly positive, with fans saying they loved the unique dress.

Just last month, Sports Illustrated Swimsuit’s newest Rookie model was in Bali shooting her spread for the upcoming issue of the iconic magazine.

Over the summer, Brooks was named Sports Illustrated Swimsuit’s Model Search winner — securing her spot in the 2020 issue as a Rookie, just a few months after making her debut in the iconic magazine.

It’s been a dream come true for the model, who was handpicked by none other than supermodel Christie Brinkley to appear in the 2019 issue after she attended an open casting call in Miami last year.

Not only did Brooks make the final six out of 10,000 Model Search hopefuls, but she was named the winner of the magazine’s second annual open casting — a title that 2019’s cover star Camille Kostek took home just last year.

She and the other five models traveled to Paradise Island in the Bahamas to photographed by Yu Tsai for a spread in the 2019 SI Swimsuit Issue.

Photos from the shoot show the rising star striking a pose in teeny tiny bikinis while she rolling around in the sand and surf.

After the six Model Search finalists were unveiled, and their stunning shoots featured in the magazine, Sports Illustrated asked fans to vote for the woman they’d like to see return for another spread in next year’s issue.

The decision to name Brooks this year’s winner was based on the popular vote, editor’s choice, and an evaluation of her history as a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit brand ambassador.
