Tottenham and Everton target Arkadiusz Milik says he is waiting for the January transfer window to open so he can force through a swift exit from Napoli.

The Poland international was seen as a back-up striker for Harry Kane with Spurs reportedly in talks over a £26million move before the recent transfer window closed.

The deal never happened, with Tottenham signing Brazilian striker Carlos Vinicius on a season-long loan from Benfica, although according to reports in Italy Spurs may still be interested in Milik, along with Premier League rivals Everton.

Milik’s contract with Serie A club Napoli is due to run out next summer but having been unable to secure a move away, he has been left out of coach Gennaro Gattuso’s squad for the rest of the season.

The 26-year-old has been involved with Poland during the current block of internationals, coming on as a substitute in the 0-0 Nations League draw with Italy on Sunday and scoring in the the preceding friendly win over Finland.

However, he admits his future  at club level is still unclear.

‘We’ll see where I go. At this point, I am not with anyone,’ Milik told Sportowefakty.pl.

‘Now, I’ll wait for the next transfer window and I hope the clubs can find an understanding.

‘Physically I’m fine, I have trained well individually. I will play matches with the national side. I wanted to appear in the Polish national team.

‘In three months, my form won’t be too much affected.’

Fellow Italian clubs Juventus and Roma have also been in the frame for Milik – who scored the decisive spot-kick in the penalty shootout that saw Napoli beat Juve to win last year’s Coppa Italia in June.

But Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti is also said to be interested in Milik – a player he was linked with in the summer. He is a big admirer of the striker from when he was in charge of Napoli, according to tuttomercatoweb.

Since joining Napoli in 2016, Milik has struck an impressive 48 times across 122 matches in all competitions, 34 goals in his last two seasons, and his availability and willingness to leave in January would stand him out as a realistic target for other big clubs seeking a recognised striker.
