Target stores across Queensland are going to start shutting down from this weekend.
Stores in Longreach, Kippa-Ring in Brisbane, The Willows in Townsville and Cairns will start closing from April 10.
The clothing retailer announced in May 2020 that it would close 75 shops across Australia, while 92 others would be rebranded as Kmart.

Target shops in the Caboolture regions will not be changed.
Stores will be clearing out shelves and selling clearance stock before shutting doors, so customers may be able to grab a bargain.
‘We want to thank our teams, the local communities and all of our customers for shopping with us over the years and hope they will consider visiting us online,’ a Target spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia.
‘Our focus is on supporting our team through this time as we work through finding suitable redeployment within other Wesfarmers businesses as well as with other employers in town.
‘The wellbeing and health of our team is our number one priority. Any permanent team members who we are unable to secure suitable redeployment will have access to all their entitlements.’
Kippa-Ring Shopping Centre manager in Brisbane Jennifer Spratling said the closure had been planned well in advance.

‘We have been working closely with Target for some time in planning for this departure, confirmed in early 2020, which provided us with the valuable opportunity to unlock retail space and enhance the Centre’s retail mix in line with our long-term masterplan,’ she said.
‘At this stage we are working to finalise our plans for this space so it is still too early to share specific details, but we look forward to making some exciting announcements in the near future.’
Most of the Target closures will be in regional areas.
50 Target Country stores will be closed and up to 25 large format city-based shops will close their doors.
