Sunrise’s executive producer Michael Pell ‘raised eyebrows’ among Channel Seven staff by appearing on-screen during a ratings segment
Sunrise’s executive producer Michael Pell celebrated the show’s success in the ratings by making an on-screen appearance on the morning show last week.
But apparently the 38-year-old’s moment in front of the camera wasn’t well received by everybody at Channel Seven.
The Daily Telegraph reported on Wednesday that Michael’s ‘awkward segment’ was met with ‘raised eyebrows among staff at Channel Seven’s Martin Place Studios as well as rival networks.’

The segment, which aired last Thursday, showed Michael out of the control room and on the couch with the hosts Samantha Armytage and David ‘Kochie’ Koch, as well as newsreader Edwina Bartholomew and sports presenter Mark Beretta.
‘It’s been the thrill and the joy of my life,’ Michael said of his time working on the show.

When asked if he had a favourite host, the TV boss swiftly and tactfully answered: ‘Well I don’t have any favourite children.’
He was also gifted a cake and a bottle of champagne to mark his milestone, and gave both Samantha and Kochie a kiss on the cheek.
Michael’s ‘awkward segment’ on the breakfast show comes after The Daily Telegraph recently reported on his romance with colleague, Daniel Burgess-Wise, 28.

The couple is believed to have begun dating sometime after Daniel took over the role as a director on the program in 2018, following the retirement of Ken Moore.
According to the publication, the network confirmed that they’re in a relationship, but said it was ‘a private matter that did not impact their work’.
Prior to his role on Sunrise, Daniel worked on a range of programs for various networks, including SBS, Nine and Fox Sports.
