Baby joy! Sunrise host David ‘Kochie’ Koch announces the arrival of his eighth grandchild – just three weeks after welcoming his seventh
Sunrise host David ‘Kochie’ Koch announced the arrival of his eighth grandchild on Saturday.
The 65-year-old took to Instagram to share the happy news, revealing his son AJ and wife Carolina had welcomed their first child, a daughter named Catalina May Koch, together on Thursday.
The news came three weeks after Kochie welcomed his seventh grandchild, after his eldest daughter Samantha gave birth to a baby girl named Florence May Brown.

Alongside a picture of little Catalina, Kochie wrote: ‘Welcome to the family Catalina May Koch; 3.7kg 51cm grandchild #8; Port Adelaide Member #1202182; Foundation @pafc AFLW member. First child for AJ and Carolina.
‘Our little Mexican burrito has arrived. Congratulations to Pepe and Laura on their first grandchild.’
He continued: ‘Our cultural diversity is one of the things I love about our country. It has so enriched my family.

‘P.S if you’re thinking “hasn’t he just had a new grandchild” you’re right. Florence was born 3 weeks ago… it is going to be so much fun watching these two cousins grow together.’
Kochie also shared a picture of himself and his wife Libby holding little Catalina and Florence, captioning the image: ‘When Cali met Florrie. How blessed we are to have two little granddaughters born within three weeks of each other.
‘Watching these cousins grow is going to be fun. Great to have Cali home… and to top of a great day her other grandparents, Pepe and Laura from Guadalajara, received their Visa to come for Christmas.’
Samantha and her partner Toby share three other children together – Lila, Oscar, and Matilda.

David shares four adult children with his wife Libby.
The couple met decades ago, and have been happily together ever since.
‘Lib was a 20-year-old nurse. Our friend Judy decided to have a party, and that’s where we met back in 1977,’ Kochie told New Idea magazine in June.
