Sydney socialite Di Maloney sets new eastern suburbs real estate record after paying $29.2million for Tamarama apartment block

Socialite Di Maloney has broken Sydney‘s coastal sales record with her recent purchase of a Tamarama block of units.

The former wife of pub baron Kim Maloney paid a whopping $29.2million for an ‘old’ block of five apartments on the eastern suburbs waterfront, according to Domain.

The amount beats the previous high watermark of $29 million for James Packer’s Bondi Beach home complex in 2018.

The block of five units, which sits behind a shack on 563 sqm and boasts a 12 metre frontage, was sold in October last year.

The final price, which was offered ahead of auction, far exceeded the estimated $20million price guide.

Living on the same street are fashion pioneer and Ingham chicken heir Robby Ingham and his wife Sarah.

Also down the road is PointsBet co-founder Nick Fahey, who paid $9.6million on the rundown block Tama House in 2006.

He has since built upmarket apartments on the site.

Maloney is perhaps best known for holding a party for Justin Bieber, which the pop star failed to attend.

In 2017, Sydney Morning Herald’s Private Sydney reported that Justin Bieber preferred to pull out on the socialite’s party, which was held specifically for him at her Point Piper mansion.

The Sorry hitmaker was reported to have Skyped into the exclusive bash, from his lush Sydney suite.

The middle-aged mother of two was said to have gone to much effort to entice Justin, with a half-pipe skateboard ramp installed in the mansion’s ballroom.

Models, DJs, agents, producers and Sydney notables were also said to have been in attendance.
