Simon Cowell ‘donates his £1million fee from Marks & Spencer advert to children’s charity’

Simon Cowell has reportedly donated his £1million fee from his recent Britain’s Got Talent Marks & Spencer advert to a children’s charity.

The talent show mogul, 60, is said to have asked the retailer to support Together For Short Lives over the next year with his commercial cheque.

The children’s charity helps families and kids with a life-limiting or threatening condition and is reportedly set to lose 50% of its annual income due to the COVID-19 crisis.

Simon has been appearing in Marks & Spencer adverts during the Britain’s Got Talent breaks called #MyMarksFave, which were filmed in January.

The star is joined by his fellow judges David Walliams, Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon, as well as co-hosts Ant and Dec.

Simon and his co-stars try different options of food supplied by the retailer and vote for their favourite.

A source told the Mirror: ‘Simon was delighted when they agreed. It’s wonderful news for the charity.’

Simon is also said to have donated a six-figure sum to Shooting Star Children’s Hospice, which needs £10million each year, and split £820,000 between charities Feeding America and Feeding Britain.

MailOnline has contacted Simon’s representative for further comment.

Earlier this month, Simon and his partner Lauren Silverman donated £320,000 ($400,000) to a dogs charity.

Lizzie Cundy revealed that the music mogul made the huge contribution to K9 friends of Barbados and praised his ‘overwhelming kindness’.

There was also $5000 bid for VIP tickets to ITV’s Summertime Ball and $2000 for a golf day at the Royal Westmoreland.

The show later boasts a whole host of hopefuls including Souparnika Nair, dance troupe House of Swag and singing quartet Noise Next Door.

The clip comes after Britain’s Got Talent bosses are reportedly concerned the live shows will be unable to go ahead later this year due to lockdown restrictions.

Sources have claimed producers are convinced the latter half of the series – originally planned for this autumn – will be cancelled, as many acts will be unable to take part due to lockdown restrictions.

It’s thought that acts such as Sign Along With Us and X1X Crew would be most at risk of taking part, along with the ongoing problem of performing without a live audience.

A source told The Mirror that bringing back an act such as Sign Along With Us may not be possible, as they would be unable to perform together due to social distancing rules.

Bosses are also reportedly concerned for X1X Crew from India, as travel restrictions and quarantine measures may mean they cannot journey to the UK for the live shows.

The insider said: ‘The initial plan was that the final could be filmed this autumn, but that’s looking increasingly unlikely. We can’t imagine an audience of that size being allowed.

‘Can we do it without an audience? Yes. But would we want to? No. And then there are the acts. We’re going to put all those people in that choir together? You’re going to fly over that dance troupe from India?

‘No, we don’t think that it’s going to happen. I’d say its chances were very slim.’

When contacted by MailOnline a representative for Britain’s Got Talent reiterated ITV’s plans for the live shows to air later this year.

Simon Cowell reveals he has lost a total of 60 pounds since adopting a vegan diet

Simon Cowell has revealed he has lost a total of 60 pounds since he went on a lifestyle overhaul and adopted a healthy vegan diet.

The Britain’s Got Talent judge, 60, has sported a noticeably slimmer physique in recent months and told how he has been sticking with his healthy routine while in lockdown with his girlfriend Lauren Silverman, 42, and their son Eric, six.

Speaking to Terri Seymour on Extra, he said: ‘I think I have dropped, since I started this diet a year ago, 60 pounds.’

Simon admitted he has found sticking to a healthy routine easier during lockdown except for when his son wants to order pizza.

He said: ‘I’m doing a bit of cooking. I’m exercising. Funny enough, more during this time as well, sticking to the diet.

‘The only difficult thing is when Eric orders a pizza… That’s the number one thing I miss.’

Imparting advice on how to cope while self-isolating, Simon insisted it’s all about sticking to a routine.

He said: ‘Most importantly, occupy your mind. You have to stick to a routine. Fortunately, with things like with Zoom, you stay in touch with the world, keep motivated, come up with ideas… I never get this time, normally.’

The music mogul has been enjoying quality time with Lauren and Eric and said his son has been coping well during the coronavirus lockdown.

He said: ‘I was concerned how [Eric] was going to cope with all of this. He has been absolutely amazing… He is still able to do schoolwork, and now we are camping on the weekends in the garden.’

Speaking about sleeping in tents outside, Simon added: ‘Lauren, the first time, 11 o’clock said, “I can’t deal with this”… and I said “No, we are staying outside.”‘

Simon also discussed the new season of America’s Got Talent which returns to NBC on May 26.

He said: ‘I’ve seen the first episodes now, and even for us watching as a family is total escapism. The fact that everyone’s managed to put this together remotely… I think they’ve done an outstanding job, and the show I am very, very proud of.’

Praising new judge Sofia Vergara, he said: ‘She was amazing… After 10 minutes, literally, in the first day, she turned to me and said, “Simon, this is the best job I ever had”.

He said: 'I’m doing a bit of cooking. I’m exercising. Funny enough, more during this time as well, sticking to the diet'

‘She was very good with the contestants, very focused. You kind of feel she has been on the show for a long time.’

Simon previously spoke about changing his diet on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

He said: ‘I went to see this doctor in London. We did some tests. And then a month later he said, “You have the worst diet I’ve ever met from any patient.”‘

Simon then added: ‘It’s like the Eric diet because he actually, apart from ice cream, he actually likes water. I mean, who likes water? And his raw vegetables. So I’m on like, the Eric Cowell diet.’

TALK OF THE TOWN: Simon Cowell’s mystery £15m mansion

TALK OF THE TOWN: Simon Cowell’s mystery £15m mansion and the hour-long commute that makes him want to stay in his £1m Holland Park home

When  he bought a £15 million mansion in suburbia, it appeared Simon Cowell was finally ready for a quieter life. Interior designers were hired following the purchase of the property in South-West London in October 2018 and the music mogul was expected to move in seven months later.

Now friends wonder why Simon, pictured below with partner Lauren Silverman, hasn’t moved from Holland Park, where he has lived for 20 years, and why the £1 million renovation project has not begun. Mind you, Simon was never one to act quickly: he started dating Lauren in 2013, and friends are still waiting for them to marry.

It is no secret Simon, 60, invests considerable sums from his estimated £385 million fortune in property. He has bought homes for ex-girlfriends Terri Seymour and Mezhgan Hussainy in the past.

Simon Cowell, pictured with his girlfriend Lauren Silverman, right, has bought a £15 million home in south west London, but the music mogul is reluctant to move from his £1m Holland Park home as it is close to his office

But friends are now asking why he wanted the £15 million house. ‘It is such a strange buy,’ says one close associate. ‘He hates traffic and loves the fact that his Holland Park home is so near to his office. The journey from the new house to work could take him over an hour.’

A friend said plans to move to the new property had been delayed by the coronavirus crisis, adding: ‘It now looks like it will be 2022.’

The name’s Branson…

Richard Branson has been called many things – but a spy? The claim came after a failed plot to topple Venezuelan president Nicolas Maduro last week. Maduro tried to link Branson, to the plot’s alleged leader, Jordan Goudreau, who was head of security at a concert organised by the Virgin tycoon.

Maduro said: ‘Branson has worked for the US and UK intelligence agencies for years.’ A spokesman for Branson called the claims ‘baseless’.
