Tammy Abraham ‘is NOT interested in discussing a new deal at Chelsea’

Tammy Abraham ‘is NOT interested in discussing a new contract at Chelsea while they chase Erling Haaland’ – but Champions League hero Olivier Giroud COULD sign a new deal

  • Chelsea forward Tammy Abraham could be on his way out of Stamford Bridge
  • The 23-year-old is reportedly not open to the idea of negotiating a new deal
  • His game time has been limited following the arrival of new boss Thomas Tuchel
  • Blues are keen on trying to lure Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland to club

Chelsea forward Tammy Abraham could be on his way out of the club with the 23-year-old not open to the idea of negotiating a new deal, according to reports.

The England international made his first-team breakthrough at the Blues last season under Frank Lampard and continued to play an important role for him before the former Chelsea midfielder was sacked.

However Abraham’s game time has been limited following the arrival of Thomas Tuchel and he’s not looking to get the ball rolling on a new contract at the club, according to The Athletic.

The report claims that Abraham is not interested in extending his deal beyond 2023 while Chelsea pursue Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland.

Haaland’s agent Mino Raiola revealed on Tuesday that only four Premier League clubs can sign the 20-year-old. Given the Blues’ financial clout they are likely to be one of those top-flight sides.

Chelsea only recently splashed out £53million on a new No 9 in Timo Werner but the Germany international has struggled for form in his debut season in England. The 24-year-old has just two goals in his last 22 matches.

Veteran striker Olivier Giroud has moved back into the frame

With Abraham not appearing to be in Tuchel’s picture and Werner’s woeful run in front of goal, veteran striker Olivier Giroud has moved back into the frame.

The 34-year-old has appeared to be on his way out of Chelsea for some time but he agreed a contract extension last May until the end of this season. When called upon the French striker seems to deliver and he could reportedly put pen to paper on a new deal.

Giroud netted a sensational overhead kick against Atletico Madrid in their 1-0 Champions League last-16 first leg victory on Tuesday night.

Tuchel, who took charge of Chelsea on January 26, praised the forward following his winning goal.

‘If you see him on a daily basis, you can’t be surprised. His body is in shape, his physicality is top level. He enjoys every day being a professional soccer player. He trains like a 24-year-old,’ he said.

‘He is the guy who has a good mix of being serious and enjoying training.

‘He is always positive and a big factor for the group. When he starts or comes off the bench, he has all the qualities.’

Abraham has made just five appearances under Tuchel, completing the full 90 minutes just once, and was replaced at half-time in their 1-1 draw at Southampton last weekend.
