Terrifying moment flying road sign smashes car window after hurricane hit Russian city

This is the moment a flying road sign which loosened in hurricane winds smashed into a drivers window while they were sat at traffic lights.
Strong winds in Novorossiysk, Russia, had caused street lights and signposts shake around, including one particularly loose stop sign.
A passenger inside a car captured the exact moment the sign, which was flapping around in the gusts, eventually blew off the post and shattered their car window.

Shocked by the effect the wind was having on the lampposts, which can be seen shaking and swinging, someone inside the Mitsubishi Outlander XL begins recording the impressive sight.
Cars appear to be moving slowly in the area of the port city, where there appears to be a dusting of snow on the ground.
One particular sign, which reads ‘stop’ in English, flaps up and down and side to side and someone inside the car asks “Where will this sign hit?”‘
It eventually comes loose and heads straight for the person holding the camera.

As the lights turn green, a woman inside the car lets out a gasp as it flies at the car and smashes into the passenger window.
As it hits, the window can be heard cracking and the camera pans to reveal it has cracks all over it.
The unnamed person who recorded the video on March 11 said: ‘Hurricane wind in gusts up to 47m/s caused chaos in the city.’
Elsewhere in the city people were filmed struggling to stand as the winds tore through the city.
In one video people can be seen falling in the middle of the road as they try to cross and people clung onto the hands of children trying not fall.
