Bizarre: On Monday, Angie Kent opened up about her biggest anxiety in life – her fear of belly buttons

Part of the reason why she started her podcast was to try different therapies in order to combat this irrational fear.

‘The one thing I haven’t been overly open about is one of my anxiety buttons, you could call it,’ she said. ‘It happens to actually be my belly button.’

Omphalophobia is the persistent fear of belly buttons, with sufferers sometimes unable to touch the navel area, look at someone else’s belly button or even think about one without feeling ill.

‘I’m getting proper sweaty even [thinking about it], she said. ‘My skin is, like, moist.’

Speaking about father’s phobia, she added: ‘My dad has it – he has to clean his bellybutton all the time, and no one can watch him, no one can talk about it.’

Angie’s podcast focuses on her trying different types of therapies and discussing their benefits or lack thereof.

‘By the end of this [podcast series], if I could talk about my belly button without getting sweaty, I would know there’s something in my body that has switched and my anxiety would be at bay,’ she said.

‘I’m really excited about it.’ she gushed.
