The list of things you cannot take on a plane appears to get longer every day but even the most careful travellers have been caught out and left shocked by what hasn’t been let through security.

In light of global travel restrictions seasoned travellers have revealed the strangest things they have had confiscated from the men and women at security.

‘A quartz crystal, because it was too sharp at the end,’ one woman said.

‘Literally took my tampons, glad my birth control now keeps me from bleeding. I asked them why and the guy said they could be infused with alcohol that I’d use to get drunk on the plane despite that they were sealed,’ another revealed.

‘One time I brought play doh for my daughter to play with and they told me they had to search my bags because they thought I had C4 in it,’ claimed another. 

‘They took my cute kitty keyring,’ said another. 

Others complained of losing nail clippers, nail files, chapsticks and hairbrushes.

‘They took my really expensive tweezers, I was so angry,’ said another woman. 

A few people claimed their souvenir snowglobes had been take because of the ‘unidentifiable liquid’ inside, while others had magnets made in the shape of iconic buildings confiscated because of sharp edges.

‘They took my earring which were in the shape of bullets,’ one woman said. 

‘My dogs collar, it had those dull spikes on it, and they considered it a weapon,’ said another.

However some women in the female only travel chat complained of having items taken off them which are generally on the banned objects list globally.

‘I had my darts with me as I was only planning on taking a backpack on our road trip and had a small dartboard in there, I asked if I could get them posted but they said no. I was in Japan and totally didn’t think of darts as a potential weapon,’ one woman said. 

‘I have had an apple taken,’ one complained. while another revealed they lost instant oats in one-serve sachets.

‘I had to down a heap of those mini alcohol containers before they took them,’ said another. 

‘Sparklers. Hint: Never fly with fireworks. They not only confiscate but write you up. I felt like I was in middle school,’ said another.
