This is the sickening moment a man says ‘I will destroy you’ before spitting in a Tesco worker’s face.

Video shows the altercation between the two men during an arrest in Hackney, east London, yesterday.

The suspect was being picked up from the floor by police outside the shop before he spat at the worker.

He was then pinned against a bus station by officers as onlookers could be heard screaming.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: ‘Police were called at 1.08pm on Tuesday, 31 January, to reports of a man acting aggressively outside a shop in Lower Clapton Road, E5.

‘Officers attended and it was reported that the man had become aggressive after being challenged by a shop worker who thought he was acting suspiciously.

‘He also assaulted the shop worker by spitting at him outside the shop.

‘The 36-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of common assault and a public order offence. He remains in custody at an east London police station. Enquiries are ongoing.’
