The world’s most expensive cookie is made by Duchess Cookies and costs $1,000

A New York-based baker is selling what might be the most expensive cookies in the world — for $1,000 each.

Sofia Demetriou has been serving up gooey, mouth-watering cookies through her business Duchess Cookies for a year.

But while most customers snap up her desserts for $5.50 a pop, Demetriou also has a special made-to-order treat that’ll cost wealthy customers a grand to bite into.

Decadent: Duchess Cookies is selling a $1,000 cookie that comes with a string of pearls, a Baccarat crystal box, and rosettes made out of ruby chocolate

The $1,000 Cookie is truly decadent — and doesn’t even look edible at first glance.

Sitting inside a black stiletto heel, it’s covered with gold leaf accents and rosettes made of ruby chocolate. The inside is ruby chocolate and it’s covered with 23-carat gold leaf.

But the priciest parts are the accessories: The cookie comes with a string of freshwater pearls and sits atop a Baccarat crystal catchall that sells for $350 at Neiman Marcus.

‘I thought, “Why not create something that is super elaborate and beautiful and something that is really exclusive to people?”‘ Demetriou told FOX Business of the genesis of the idea.

Though the cookie is way over budget for most people, it does have customers: Demetriou said two people in New York and two in Dubai have already ordered one.

‘A lot of clients want to buy it for their wives, [but] we really haven’t gotten too much information from that side,’ she added.

It also helped that she hired Kim Kardashian’s friend Jonathan Cheban to promote it on his FoodGod Instagram page.

For those who can’t afford to drop $1,000 on a single dessert — accessorized or not — Duchess Cookies also sells regular cookies for $5.50 each.

They are available to order online and at Penn Station and Gansevoort Market in New York City.

Flavors include blueberry cheesecake, s’mores, sea salt caramel pretzel, oatmeal apple pie, triple chocolate, churro, banana nut cookie butter, PB&J, and cherry crumble.

Meanwhile, in March a South Jordan, Utah man named Daryl Smith spent $1,000 on cookies — though he didn’t even a single one.

According to WALB News, Smith bought 250 boxes of Girl Scout cookies from Troop 455 and then asked the girls to give them away to others.

‘He wouldn’t even take a single box for himself,’ Autumn, one of the Girl Scouts, said.

‘We always try for doing something to pay it forward and in return, maybe somebody else will, too,’ Smith said.
