The world’s most viewed homes for sale on Rightmove

A Spanish villa where One Direction made their debut in an X Factor judge’s house performance and a bulletproof townhouse in New York feature in the most viewed properties on Rightmove this year.

All of the five most popular overseas homes for sale on the property website – except one – have a price tag that runs into tens of millions of pounds.

They include a villa on Spain‘s Costa del Sol, which helped the boy band One Direction on their way to stardom as it was the location for Simon Cowell‘s judge’s house on the 2010 series of The X Factor.

Villa Moana enjoys 180 degree ocean views and an asking price of €40milllion, the equivalent of £33.8million.

Also included in the list is a bulletproof New York townhouse with a private roof deck that enjoys 360 degree views across the city’s skyline.

The six-bedroom property has an asking price of $50million, the equivalent of £37.9million.

The most viewed overseas property of this year is also the cheapest, at a ‘mere’ $4million, the equivalent of £3.09million.

This is despite it being a private island in Canada’s Nova Scotia, which includes an 11-bedroom house and 60 acres of land.

Rightmove’s Miles Shipside said: ‘These properties, from right around the world, are all mesmerising in their own unique ways and it is fascinating to peek behind their front doors to see how the rich and famous live away from the cameras.’

If you’re looking to escape the rate race and live life as a castaway on a luxury private island, then this Canadian ranch may fit the bill.

The 11-bedroom property is in the centre of its own 60-acre private island in Canada’s Nova Scotia.

It also comes with a beach cottage and is available to buy for £3.09million, via estate agents Coldwell Banker Supercity Realty.

The second most viewed overseas property for sale on Rightmove this year is an equestrian ranch, in Santa Barbara, in the US.

The ranch is called Rancho Latigo includes an 11-stall barn, a tennis court, outdoor entertaining areas and a helipad.

It is priced at $39,995,000, the equivalent of £30.3million, and is being sold via American Farm & Ranch.

Also included in the list of most popular properties overseas this year is a bulletproof townhouse in New York.

The Manhattan townhouse is on East 64th Street, on the Upper East Side, and boasts a private roof deck with 360 degree views across the city’s skyline. It was designed by Rafael Viñoly Architects (VAR) for the Argentinian businessman.

The six-bedroom property is close to Central Park and has an asking price of $50million, the equivalent of £37.9million.

This 12-bedroom villa in Spain’s Costa del Sol helped the boyband One Direction to stardom.

It was here that the boyband auditioned in front of Simon Cowell at the TV icon’s judge’s houses in 2010.

The property is called Villa Moana and is for sale via estate agents I Find Marbella for €40million, the equivalent of £33.8million.

And finally, this private island in the Bahamas is also in this year’s most popular properties overseas.

But you’ll need deep pockets to own this slice of paradise called Little Pipe Cay as it has a guide price of $85million, the equivalent of £64.55million.

There are several homes spread across the island, with nine bedrooms available in total and 38 acres of land.

The property is in a district of the Bahamas called Exuma, which is made up of more than 365 islands. The name may be familiar to those who have seen a documentary about the doomed Fyre Festival event in 2017 – although, that was held on Great Exuma.

Knight Frank describes Little Pipe Cay as ‘the crown jewel of the Exumas and one of the top private islands in the Bahamas, if not the Caribbean’.

The island has also featured in James Bond and the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.
