Tina Fey says she once accidentally texted Anna Wintour

Accidentally texting the wrong person can be an embarrassing nightmare — but one can only imagine how nerve-wracking it would be to mistakenly message the famously intimating editor-in-chief of Vogue.

Yet Tina Fey admitted that that’s exactly what happened to her, saying she once accidentally texted Anna Wintour instead of another woman listed under the name Anna in her phone

The confession came when the comedian, 48, sat down in front of People‘s cameras for a round of the drinking game Never Have I Ever with her co-stars in the new movie Wine Country.

Fey was joined by Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph, Ana Gasteyer, Paula Pell and Rachel Dratch for the funny game, in which the women pulled prompts out of a jar that began with the phrase ‘Never have I ever.’

Anyone who had ever done the thing written on the piece of paper was made to drink — and most shared their stories as well.

When the women were prompted to drink if they’d ever drunk-texted someone, Fey admitted that she once mistakenly sent a text to Wintour.

‘I once accidentally — not drunk — I accidentally texted Anna Wintour,’ she said.

Everyone around her was visibly shocked at the confession, both because Fey actually had Wintour’s number and because she had made the mistake.

One of her co-stars is heard in saying, ‘Tina has Anna Wintour’s number in her phone?’

Rudolph then wanted to know who Fey thought she was texting when she accidentally sent the message to the fashion mogul, but the actress could not remember.

‘I don’t remember. Somebody else named Anna, I don’t know,’ Fey said. ‘We are not close. But she’s lovely.’

This statement came after Gasteyer joked Fey would write to Wintour, ‘Girl, you looked cute in those glasses!’

While Pell asked, ‘Girl, who cut your bob?’

The comedian also could not recall exactly what she texted Wintour by accident, but she said: ‘It was properly ignored. Politely ignored.’

Another secret revealed during the Never Have I Ever game was that Poehler notably makes itineraries whenever she goes on a girls’ trips with her friends.

‘It’s much appreciated,’ Rudolph said, while her cast members laughed about how prepared Poehler is on the trips. Dratch even revealed that Poehler will go as far as laminating the itinerary for people.

Poehler’s reasoning behind making the itineraries is that it helps her to relax for the trip.

‘It calms me down to make a schedule,’ she said. ‘If I could know every day what I’m doing on a piece of paper, even if I didn’t do it, I would love it.’

The cast was also asked if they have ever peed their pants from laughing to hard. To that question, everyone drank.

‘We’re over 50, and I passed a 10lbs 9oz [baby],’ Gasteyer said.

Laughing so hard she pees was something Rudolph admitted she does too much of, as her five year old daughter started to notice the habit.

‘I pee my pants so much that my five-year-old daughter thought it would be funny to “pee her pants like mommy” on purpose,’ the former Saturday Night Live star said.

Together, all six women star in Netflix’s Wine Country — which debuts on the streaming site Friday.
