Today show: Karl Stefanovic loses it over two Kiwi boys with mullet hairstyles

Karl Stefanovic couldn’t hide his excitement as two young Kiwi boys showed off their mullet hairstyles on the Today show on Thursday.

Today reporter Izabella Staskowski was at Melbourne Airport interviewing brothers Jack and Max, who had travelled from New Zealand during the school holidays.

‘This is the busiest day of the school holidays. We’re having a bit of fun this morning and this is for you, Karl,’ Staskowski said.

‘I want to bring in Jack and Max, and I want to show you their fresh mullets. They’re looking very good,’ she said as the boys turned around to show off their hair.

She continued: ‘These guys are from New Zealand and this is an original style, I’ve been told.’

Stefanovic then burst into laughter and enthusiastically fist pumped the air.

‘You’ve got to watch those Kiwi kids with their knock-off jumpers on,’ he later joked. 

It comes after Sarah Abo took a dig at Stefanovic during Monday’s episode of the Channel Nine breakfast show.

The 60 Minutes reporter, who is filling in for Allison Langdon, joked about Stefanovic being old as they discussed Tom Cruise turning 60.

‘I can’t believe he is 60, that’s unbelievable,’ Stefanovic, 47, said. 

‘That’s about your age, isn’t it Karl? You look terrific,’ Abo responded while placing her hand on his shoulder.

‘Don’t touch what you can’t afford,’ he replied as they burst into laughter.
