Tom Brady, 43, says supermodel wife Gisele Bundchen urged him to retire (again) after Super Bowl win

‘What more do you have to prove?’ Tom Brady, 43, says supermodel wife Gisele Bundchen urged him to retire (again) moments after winning his record seventh Super Bowl title

Fresh off his record seventh Super Bowl win last month, Tom Brady revealed Tuesday, the 43-year-old quarterback was greeted on the field by his family and immediately urged to give up football by wife Gisele Bundchen.

‘What more do you have to prove?’ she asked Brady, who revealed the quote to James Corden on Tuesday’s show.

Bundchen has has previously revealed her wish that Brady retire, telling Ellen DeGeneres in 2018 that she had ‘not been very successful’ on that front.

Tom Brady appeared on James Corden’s show on Tuesday and revealed his post-Super Bowl discussion with wife Gisele Bundchen, who clearly thinks her husband should give up football

Brady, who has since stated his intention to play in 2021, didn’t linger on that topic.

‘I was trying to figure out a way to change the subject really quick,’ he said, adding, ‘I think I moved on to something else pretty quickly.’

The future Hall of Famer still has one year and $25 million left on his deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but finances aside, Bundchen has a point.

Not only does Brady have two more Super Bowl wins than his nearest competitor, former Cowboys and 49ers linebacker Charles Haley, but he also holds the NFL record for touchdown passes (581) and ranks second behind Saints quarterback in passing yards and completions.

Brady could hang around to surpass Brees, one of only a few rivals with comparable statistics, but any new records may ultimately be broken by his Super Bowl LV counterpart, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who is on his own record-breaking pace.

Currently Mahomes, 25, has 1,114 completions, 14,152 passing yards and 114 touchdown passes through four NFL seasons. For comparison, Brady had 955 completions, 10,233 passing yards, and 69 touchdown passes over his first four seasons. (Both Brady and Mahomes spent their rookie years as a backup)

Of course, Mahomes may never challenge Brady’s Super Bowl marks of seven wins or 10 appearances, which is more or less the point Bundchen made after the Bucs’ championship victory over the Chiefs in Tampa.

Bundchen has publicly pushed for Brady to give up football for several years.

In 2017, she told CBS that he had secretly battled unreported concussions.

‘He had a concussion last year,’ she said. ‘I mean, he has concussions pretty much. We don’t talk about it, but he does have concussions.’

A joint review by the NFL and players’ union ultimately determined there was no evidence that he suffered concussions.

In 2018, Bundchen playfully told DeGeneres that she had ‘not been very successful’ in trying to convince Brady to quit, and suggested the TV host give it a shot.
