Trigg, Perth: Man left permanently blind after thugs hurled potato at him while he rode an e-scooter

Man is left blind after thugs tossed a POTATO at him while he was riding an e-scooter with friends

A Perth man has been left permanently blind after thugs hurled a potato at him while he was riding an e-scooter with friends. 

The man, 28, had been travelling on the footpath of West Coast Drive near the iconic Mettams Pool in Trigg at about 9:30pm on Friday when he was struck. 

Police say the rider suffered serious facial injuries after the occupants of a white sedan ‘threw or fired a potato’ at the orange rental scooters.

The 28-year-old has permanently lost sight in one eye and has suffered several facial structures, as well as fracture to his arm. 

He remains in hospital as Mirrabooka detectives investigate the incident. 

Police wish to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or saw someone firing potatoes or other objects at members of the public in the area.
