Triple triumph

MISS Malaysia Tourism Pageant 2023 has recently concluded its competition, crowning three winners in a single evening. The National Final Coronation Night was held at the luxurious Berjaya Times Square Hotel in Kuala Lumpur on Oct 13.

Hosted by D’Touch International and co-organised by MyShoppo, the pageant placed a strong emphasis on culture, tourism and friendship-building, in line with its mission to promote local tourism.

The National Final night was graced by the presence of International Enterpreneur Chamber Malaysia adviser Dr Raja Putra Shah, who observed an extraordinary evening in which 18 outstanding finalists vied for three prestigious titles.

The top three winners are Jen Cheang Shi Hui, hailing from Kuala Lumpur, who earned the crown of Miss Malaysia Tourism 2023, Sabah’s Joanne Clare Deaves who secured the title of Miss Malaysia Tourism Queen of the Year 2023 and Shelyn Poh, representing Pahang, was named Miss Malaysia Tourism Metropolitan 2023.

These accomplished winners received coveted crowns and were rewarded with cash prizes and sponsored gifts, totaling RM117,000. Apart from that, certain finalists who met specific entry requirements were granted scholarships from Peninsula College, each valued at RM25,000.

In addition to the main titles, various other awards were presented to the contestants. These included Miss Pavalintang Personality awarded to Ellesha Mescchile, Miss King’s Park Lifestyles won by Shelyn Poh, Miss Clam Sanctuary Goodwill presented to Roseanne Lim Janny and Miss Bitney Glamour was awarded to Salley Eoh.

Best in Talent was claimed by Lim Qian, and Best in Social Media was received by Hera Wong Kin Wei. Deaves, the winner of Miss Malaysia Tourism Queen of the Year 2023, also secured the titles of Miss Gintell Wellness and Miss Le Bisou Charm.

Prior to the National Final, the contestants participated in a variety of tourism and charitable activities, including excursions with Coach Airways, visits to Safari Wonderland, and exploration of the scenic King’s Park Genting Highlands, where they were able to fully appreciate the beauty and warmth of Malaysia.

In line with the pageant’s mission to promote compassion, all 18 finalists also engaged in charitable visits to the Ti-Ratana Welfare Society and the Selangor King George V Silver Jubilee Fund, where they brought joy and essential supplies to young children and elderly residents during these visits, making a positive difference in their lives.

In light of this, Tan Sri Danny Ooi, Miss Malaysia Tourism Pageant President, expressed his gratitude towards the panel of judges and shared his satisfaction with the final results during a press conference with the media.

“I would like to congratulate all of the winners of this beauty pageant and remind everyone that the World Final is not far away, so keep working hard,” he said.

The winner of Miss Malaysia Tourism 2023 will play a vital role in representing Malaysia at the 26th Miss Tourism International 2023 World Final, scheduled from the Nov 10 to 27 at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

As Malaysia’s ambassador, they will promote the country’s tourism to 49 international delegates from around the world, with the crowning ceremony set for Nov 25.
