Uber launches new ‘smart travel’ feature for UK riders that enables them to book EUROSTAR tickets… and the tool will tell them if their flight is cancelled, too

  • The feature is called ‘Uber Travel’ and is ‘set to turn Uber into a smart travel app’

Uber is rolling out a new feature for UK customers that will enable them to book Eurostar tickets through the Uber app.

The feature is called ‘Uber Travel’ and is ‘set to turn Uber into a smart travel app’, according to the ride-hailing firm.

Riders in the UK will be able to book and pay for a Eurostar trip to Paris, Brussels, Lille, Amsterdam or Rotterdam on Eurostar – and have the journey ‘added into a smart travel itinerary for easy reference and access’.

Uber said the feature would ‘make travel to the Continent a door-to-door experience in the Uber app’.

What’s more, ‘an exciting feature’ of Uber Travel is that it will automatically import upcoming trip plans directly from Gmail into the Uber app, with hotel, flight and restaurant reservations all in one place’.

Uber added: ‘Uber users can also book tickets across multiple modes of transport, without having to visit numerous websites, download confirmation emails and re-confirm bookings.’

Uber Travel will also update flight timings should there be any changes, adjusting your itinerary accordingly, said Uber.

Uber Travel is being rolled out to UK users now and will be available to all riders by the end of August. 

Uber Travel’s booking functionality is powered by Omio, billed as ‘the world’s leading ground transportation platform’.

‘This will allow our customers to plan ahead by making bookings with Eurostar, or help ease the stress of travel this summer with updated flight details automatically imported into the smart itinerary.’
