UFC 264: Dustin Poirer was up on all three judges scorecards prior to Conor McGregor’s freak injury

REVEALED: Dustin Poirer was up on all three judges scorecards prior to Conor McGregor’s freak injury with two scoring the first round a 10-8

Dustin Poirier was in firm control of his fight with Conor McGregor before the Irishman broke his ankle, at least according to the three judges sitting cageside.

Poirier secured victory over McGregor again when the Irishman’s leg gave way in the final seconds of the first round.

After a bright start McGregor found himself in trouble when Poirier escaped his guillotine choke and got on top of him before landing some vicious ground and pound.

All three judges Dustin Poirier had the first round scored in favour of Dustin Poirier

McGregor did manage to make it back to his feet before a freak accident brought the fight to an abrupt end.

And the judges certainly had him losing the first round.

Sal D’Amato had it 10-9 to Poirier while both Derek Cleary and Junichiro Kamijo scored a 10-8 for the Diamond.

A 10-8  is a relatively rare event in an MMA fight and signifies round of real dominance.

McGregor will now undergo surgery but Dana White has hinted a fourth fight could be on the cards.
