Vas J Morgan reveals the extent of his drug addiction

‘I took ketamine, cocaine, crystal meth’: Vas J Morgan reveals his drug addiction came from homophobia… and admits he’d ‘take anything’ before pal Chloe Green took him to rehab

Vas J Morgan binged on ‘cocaine, ketamine and crystal meth’ after struggling with internalised homophobia.

The TOWIE star, 31, who has been sober for two-and-a-half years, admitted he struggled to come to terms with his own sexuality and turned to drugs and alcohol to numb the pain before his pal Chloe Green booked him into rehab.

He told New!: ‘I took anything. Ketamine, cocaine, crystal meth. You know, in this industry, when people offer you free alcohol and free drugs, you tend to ignore it being a problem.

‘I realised later that it was a lot of internalised homophobia, with me not wanting to admit to being gay, which trickled down from my family…

‘I’ve got a Caribbean mum and in Jamaica it’s still taboo. My parents grew up in the 60s and 70s over there, so being gay was just not allowed and I was told from a very young age, ‘It’s not OK to be gay’…

‘I was sort of closeted and dealing with that mental health struggle alone for most of my life. I thought I was going to hell…

‘It’s hard to unlearn things that were taught to you so young. I just thought, ‘What is the point of living?’ So I went out and numbed those thoughts with alcohol and drugs.’

Vas revealed his close pal, Topshop heiress Chloe Green, booked him into rehab after two failed suicide attempts.

He said: ‘[My lowest point] was the night before I went to rehab. I had two quite severe suicide attempts. I called my friend Chloe Green from a hotel room…

‘She booked me a flight to Thailand next morning and I went straight from the hotel room that I’d been in for four nights to Heathrow airport.’

His candid reveal comes after Vas has revealed TOWIE’s response to his claims of systematic racism.

He accused the popular reality TV series of forcing him into stereotypical stories and failing to support his depression battle in an impassioned statement exclusively shared with MailOnline last week.

During an interview on FUBAR Radio’s Access All Areas, Vas has since insisted producers are ‘being active in trying to make a difference’, and also claimed ‘black tokenism’ he witnessed on other shows ‘almost turned me against my own kind’.
