  • Vinicius Junior has reportedly received interest from a number of big clubs
  • Arsenal, Tottenham, Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain were all linked with him
  • Real Madrid could use Vinicius as a makeweight in a deal to sign Kylian Mbappe
  • The Brazilian has begun to start more this season due to Eden Hazard’s absence

Vinicius Junior has expressed a desire to ‘stay at Real Madrid forever’ and says he does not want to leave the LaLiga champions on loan following interest from a host of clubs.

The Brazilian was the subject of talks about a temporary move away from the Bernabeu during last month’s transfer window, with Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham and Paris Saint-Germain all reportedly keen on signing the 20-year-old.

The possibility still remains that the Spanish giants could use Vinicius as a makeweight in a deal to capture Kylian Mbappe in the summer.

However, Vinicius is happy under Zinedine Zidane and, having nailed down a regular starting spot, feels his career would be best served staying where he is.

Asked whether he would leave on loan in the summer, he told TNT Sports: ‘No. I’m always focused on wanting to be at Real Madrid, being with the best players, learning alongside the best players.

‘I’m 20 years old and it seems as though I’ve been playing for many years, but I’m only at the beginning of my career.

‘I’m learning a lot from the players that are here, those that play in my position. I want to stay at Real Madrid forever.’

Vinicius joined Real on his 18th birthday after one-and-a-half seasons at Flamengo and made his debut in the Madrid derby in September 2018 before he scored his first goal in his new colours against Real Valladolid in Santiago Solari’s first league game in charge following the sacking of Julen Lopetegui.

The winger began to start consistently early in 2019 before a ruptured knee suffered in the 4-1 Champions League thumping against Ajax in March sidelined him for two months, forcing him to miss the start of Zinedine Zidane’s second spell at the helm.

Since then he has only contributed five goals and five assists for Los Blancos in fifty league matches, with his only strike in the Champions League coming against Club Brugge last season, but he has become trusted to do a job on the left of a front three by Zidane due to Eden Hazard’s injury-enforced absence.
