What a faceplant! Moment bungling thief falls face-first through extractor fan as he breaks into milkshake shop before stealing cash

This is the moment a bungling thief faceplanted while breaking into a shop through an extractor fan.

CCTV taken from For Fudge Shakes in Bellshill, Glasgow shows the hooded thief trying to squeeze through the hole in the wall.

He painstakingly tries to pull himself through the gap, at one stage grabbing hold of a plug.

The thief eventually manages to wriggle through, but in the process his trousers get caught and end up being pulled down around his ankles. He then loses balance and lands face first onto the floor. After taking a brief moment to recover he pulls himself up, and his trousers, and puts his hood over his head before walking to the front of the store.

He ended up stealing money from the till, the tip jar a charity donation box and some reserved cash in the 11.30am raid last Sunday.

One of the owners of the business told Glasgow Live: ‘One of the managers came in the morning and noticed one of the extractor fan had been smashed through.

‘Once he finally wormed his way through the space we can see him work on the till and look for other things. It’s devastating, we have good, hardworking group of young people and some of them were very shaken up at the start of their shift.

‘With the rising cost of everything right now and profit margins being squeezed, this is something we didn’t need.’

Police Scotland are yet to make any arrests.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: ‘We were called around 11.55am on Sunday, 8 October, to a report of a break-in at a premises on Motherwell Road, Bellshill.

‘Enquiries are ongoing.’
