RELAXED SUITING

After nearly two years of WFH loungewear, the biggest names in fashion know what we will be craving this season: something that makes us feel far more pulled together, yet with all the comfort of our elasticated knits.

The result is that formal officewear has been transformed and made acceptable for the everyday. Yes, for 2022 a suit is the thing to be seen in.

FASHION THAT MEANS BUSINESS

The idea — and practice — of dressing like a woman who means business is thrilling. For my return to work I was channelling Saint Laurent’s SS22 catwalk (well I like to think I was anyway) in a slimfit design and pointed court shoes.

Jacket, £99.95, and trousers, £59.95, massimodutti.com; knit, £310, madeleinethompson. com; shoes, £225, russellandbromley.co.uk; necklace, £16.50, marksandspencer.com

NOT JUST FOR THE OFFICE

If you’re still at home, a tailored jacket and trousers are a perfectly valid choice for meeting up with friends, possibly with trainers rather than the vertiginous heels I’m wearing here. See the Etro catwalk for inspiration.

IT’S GOOD TO GO GREEN

’Navy blue is very office-y, but it doesn’t have to be that way. For something more exciting, head to Jigsaw, which has the bright green design (below). If you want something you’ll be wearing through spring and summer, the cream Cos suit is the one for you — their high-waisted trousers are absurdly flattering.
