Wolves are closing in on a deal for Colombian defender Yerson Mosquera.

The 20-year-old is poised to move to Molineux from Atletico Nacional in a deal worth around an initial £6m.

Mosquera, a Colombia Under 20 international, is viewed as his country’s next big defensive hope.

Mosquera has opted for a move to Wolves despite strong interest from Manchester City, Manchester United and Belgians Club Brugge due to his increased prospects of first-team football at Molineux.

The centre-back broke into the Atletico Nacional side last season and has cemented his place in the plans of the Colombian giants during their 2021 campaign, making 19 appearances.

Having been granted a work permit the final bits of paperwork are now being finalised on the deal.

Mosquera is due to go straight into Wolves’s first-team set up with a view to being progressively introduced to English football next season.
