A Woolworths customer has been given 1000 Everyday Rewards points for free thanks to her kind gesture after a checkout mishap.

Joanna, from North Queensland, detailed the context of the situation on Facebook which quickly caught the attention of close to 6,000 people.

‘My clumsy a** dropped my carton of eggs in the check-out line today at Woolworths. One egg broke and went on the floor,’ she wrote online.

She asked a supermarket employee for paper towels to help clean up the mess made, but the staffer ‘insisted’ on doing it for her.

When asked if she would like a new carton of eggs, Joanna said she’d be happy to take the carton she dropped with one egg less.

The kind offer was met with praise from the manager who gifted her the free rewards points.

Woolworths shopper Joanna, from Queensland, was awarded 1000 Everyday Rewards points for free for being ‘such a nice person’ after accidentally dropping a carton of eggs at the checkout and offering to clean it up

‘They asked if I wanted a new carton of eggs. I told them no it’s okay I’ll take the carton I dropped,’ she said.

Understanding it was her own mistake, she wasn’t expecting the manager to offer a surprising reward for her kind gesture.

‘The manager on duty came over and said that she was giving me 1000 reward on my Everyday Rewards for being such a nice person and attempting to clean up,’ she said.

‘Something to look out for. It just goes to show it doesn’t take much to be a decent person.’

The social media post was liked more than 5900 times by others who admired Joanna’s gesture, and some said the ‘same thing’ has happened to them previously.

‘That’s so awesome!!! Good on you for being a decent person,’ one person wrote.

‘This has also happened to me as I had a huge trolley full so I let the people with fewer items go in front of me,’ another wrote.

A third added: ‘There’s so many lovely Woolworths workers out there that actually love their jobs & show it to the customers. Good on you for going the extra too as a customer.’

Shoppers can use the points from the Everyday Rewards card to get $10 off a future shop.
