Zlatan Ibrahimovic ‘in talks over a new one-year deal at AC Milan with veteran striker set to play for the Italian giants into his FORTIES’

Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s late career renaissance looks set to continue, with the Swedish striker reportedly in contract extension talks with AC Milan.
The 39-year-old has scored 17 goals in all competitions this season to fire Milan to second in the Serie A table after re-joining on a free transfer in December 2019.
The BBC have reported the forward is negotiating an extension with the Rossoneri, while the Guardian state that a further one-year deal will be announced imminently.

Ibrahimovic’s current contract runs out on 30 June but the reports state the Italian giants are keen to keep the marksman at the club until June 2022 – which would mean he would play into his forties.
The striker has surprised everyone since his return to European football with Milan, where he previously spent two years from 2010 to 2012.
Sweden’s all-time scorer enjoyed a goal-laden year in MLS with LA Galaxy, but he was thought to be past his best after suffering a career-threatening injury at Manchester United.
Instead he has flourished in Serie A, inspiring a title charge from Stefano Pioli’s side in the first half of the season which has fallen away in recent weeks. City rivals Inter are now ahead of Milan by eight points with a game in hand.
Ibrahimovic came out of international retirement for Sweden last month after five years
Ibrahimovic’s form has been so impressive that he earned himself a recall to the Swedish national team last month after five years without playing for his country. He has netted a record 62 goals for Sweden.
He provided the assist for Viktor Claesson’s winner in Sweden’s 1-0 World Cup qualifying win against Georgia in his first game back and became his side’s oldest player in the process.
His second spell at Milan has not been without controversy. This week animal rights group PETA heavily criticised Ibrahimovic after Swedish outlet Expressen accused him of having shot a captive lion in 2011.
He also sparked a feud with NBA star LeBron James when he said that ‘athletes should be athletes and politicians should do politics’.
The forward has struggled with injuries again this season but will hope he can put those troubles behind him to lead the line for Sweden at the upcoming Euros.
