Spanish newspapers Marca and AS both incredibly led with the same front-page headline as they paid tribute to Sergio Ramos after the news of his departure from Real Madrid.
The 35-year-old, who has won four Champions League trophies amid 16 trophy-laden years at the Bernabeu, will leave the club for pastures new this summer.
Ramos’ contract runs out at the end of June and he could not agree an extension with the club – and with the news stunning the Spanish capital, both Marca and AS ran with the same headline on their Thursday front-pages: ‘A legend goes’.

Marca detailed how Ramos had won an incredible 22 trophies during his time at the club, which in addition to the successes in Europe included five LaLiga titles and two Copa del Rey trophies.
He also won the Spanish Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup four times four times, and the UEFA Super Cup three times.
AS also ran with ‘Se va una leyenda’ as they confirmed today’s ‘farewell’ press conference which is scheduled to be held alongside club president Florentino Perez.
They also poured over his incredible statistics, which include 671 appearances in 16 seasons and 101 goals from playing at centre back.
Ramos won four European Cups, four Club World Cups, three European Super Cups, five LaLiga titles and two Copa del Rey crowns during his 16 years with Madrid
Ramos had hoped that his form during the season’s run-in would force the club’s hand into a preferred two-year extension.
But the club only offered a year and after no agreement, it means that the 2-0 defeat by Chelsea in the Champions League semi-finals last month was his last game for the club.
He leaves the club leaves them as the second most decorated player in their history behind Paco Gento.

His header three minutes into injury time of the 2014 Champions League final that took the game against Atletico Madrid into extra-time will long be remembered as one of the most important goals in the club’s history – it allowed them to win 4-1 and claim their 10th European Cup.
Ramos’s place at Madrid has already been taken with David Alaba arriving on a free from Bayern Munich.
He now has to decide what his next move will be, with PSG and former club Sevilla leading the way and Manchester United linked too.
