ABBA’s Dancing Queen voted Britain’s top floor-filler ahead of Come On Eileen and It’s Raining Men

You can jive! ABBA classic Dancing Queen is voted Britain’s top floor-filler ahead of Come On Eileen and It’s Raining Men

Well you can feel the beat from the tambourine – Abba’s Dancing Queen has been voted the best ever song to dance to.

The Swedish group heads a list of the 20 greatest dance floor-fillers of all time, with the 1976 track winning 36 per cent of the vote, beating Beyonce, Queen and Taylor Swift

The classic topped charts worldwide and provided Agnetha Faltskog, Bjorn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson, and Anni-Frid Lyngstad with their only US number one single.

Formed in 1972, Abba kicked off a chart-topping career after winning the 1974 Eurovision Song Contest with Waterloo before selling 400million singles and albums worldwide.

They broke up in 1982 but Ulvaeus has said they will release five new songs next year.

Come On Eileen, the 1982 hit by Dexys Midnight Runners, came second on the list of favourite dance tunes, with 1983’s It’s Raining Men by the Weather Girls in third.

Pharrell Williams’s 2013 smash, Happy, was the only modern-day hit to make the top five.

US superstar Beyonce made it into the top ten at No 8 with Grammy award-winning 2003 hit Crazy In Love, while Miss Swift’s catchy Shake It Off from 2014 scraped into the top 20 at 19.
