Time-poor parents are paying tradesmen hundreds of dollars to assemble bulky Christmas gifts such as trampolines, cubby houses and swing sets.
And there’s been such a high demand, Grant, from Melbourne, has turned the mundane task into a lucrative career, earning a whopping $10,000 a month installing trampolines in the lead up to the festive season.
Every year, the trampoline installer visits hundreds of homes to help exhausted parents set up the giant backyard toy that could take anywhere between two to three hours to assemble, depending on the size.
His customers all call him ‘The Trampoline Whisperer’ because he can put together the most complicated, ‘impossible-to-assemble’ model in less than 30 minutes.

‘My customers are calling me “The Trampoline Whisperer” as it’s my ability to quickly and safely assemble all types and sizes of trampolines,’ Grant wrote in his Airtasker advertisement.
‘I specialise in the challenging brands such as Springfree and Vuly but I will assemble any brand of trampoline to be safe and fun.
‘If you are moving or are buying a second hand trampoline I can take all of the hassle out of the move and take care of everything so all you need to do is enjoy the trampoline.’
Springfree and Vuly trampolines with safety nets usually take two to three hours for two people to complete the installation. While a trampoline that does not include a safety net can be assembled in 60 minutes.

It’s unclear how much he charges but similar jobs listed on Airtasker are advertised between $50 to $200 – depending on the size of the trampoline.
Grant – who’s dubbed ‘Airtasker’s number one trampoline installer’ – has more than 1,700 five-star reviews, with many describing him as ‘lightning fast, courteous, professional, punctual and a trampoline superstar’.
‘I nearly cried with relief and delight – this man is amazing. After four hours of struggling to put up a Springfree trampoline despite following instructions, Grant came and completed the job in 20 minutes,’ one mother wrote.
Another parent said: ‘Super fast and efficient. A 27 minute set up. Kids are so happy.’
And another added: ‘Grant was fantastic, efficient and friendly. Did an awesome job setting up the trampoline… highly recommended to anyone.’
Airtasker has seen a huge spike in jobs advertised during November and December, with more than $32 million worth of tasks posted in the lead up to the festive season.
The most popular requests are assembling gifts such as trampolines, cubby houses and playground sets, with hundreds of time-poor parents offering handymen money.
There has been more than 780 requests for trampoline help in November alone, with many requesting a Christmas Eve assembly to surprise their kids on Christmas day.
