Aldi has claimed a coveted Which? recommendation as low prices and value for money jump to the top of the nation’s shopping list.

The German discounter has been placed alongside Marks & Spencer and Waitrose as one of the country’s favourite supermarkets in research by the consumer champion.

Aldi was the only chain to be given ‘Which? Recommended Provider’ status, which is largely driven by being regularly shown as the cheapest for household essentials.

The accolade came as Aldi announced further expansion plans and the recruitment of more than 6,000 staff.
