Armed police shoot ‘knifeman’ with Taser after he is seen ‘behaving erratically’ near Houses of Parliament

  • A man was seen ‘behaving erratically’ at around 11.50am in the SW1 area
  • He was stopped by armed police on Millbank and a taser was discharged
  • The man was arrested and taken into custody; there are no reports of injuries 

Armed police shot an alleged knifeman with a Taser after he was seen ‘behaving erratically’ near the Houses of Parliament this morning. 

A man was seen behaving ‘erratically’ at around 11.50am in the SW1 area.

He was stopped by armed police on Millbank and a taser was discharged.

The man was arrested on possession of a bladed item and was taken into custody. 

There have been no reports of any injuries following the incident.  

A video posted on Twitter showed the scene as around six Metropolitan Police officers restrained the man and made the arrest.

The Metropolitan Police said: ‘At around 11:50hrs on Friday, 21 October a man was seen behaving erratically in the SW1 area.

‘He was stopped by armed officers on Millbank.

‘Police taser was discharged and the man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article. He has been taken into custody.

‘There have been no reports of any injuries.’
