Arnott’s has scrapped its iconic ‘Classic Assorted’ biscuit pack and replaced it with a smaller, more expensive alternative, outraging thousands of Australians.

The famous 500-gram biscuit pack contained Farmbake Choc Chip cookies, Butternut Snaps, Monte Carlo, Scotch Finger, Kingston and Shortbread Cream biscuits.

It has been replaced with a pricier new assortment called ‘High Tea Favourites,’ which weighs 100 grams less and only contains four varieties of biscuits instead of six.

The new pack still contains the Scotch Finger, Monte Carlo and Shortbread Cream but misses three other favourite biscuits in the ‘Classic Assorted’ pack – instead adding the Raspberry Shortcake.

Arnott’s says the product was discontinued due to low sales and limited shelve space in supermarkets.

‘The difficult decision has been made to stop production of this product,’ a spokesperson said.

2GB breakfast host Ben Fordham broke the news to listeners on Friday morning.

‘A staple in every office tea room is about to disappear,’ Fordham said. ‘The Arnott’s Classic Assorted pack is gone.’

Listeners were outraged, with one calling in saying the new High Tea pack High Tea pack costs him $6.37, almost $2 more than the $4.50 he previously paid for the Classic Assorted.
