Australian drivers are being slammed for poor parking as a social media page documenting their failed attempts explodes in popularity.

Facebook page ‘Malaka parking’ has quickly gained nearly 34,000 followers by posting photographs of some of most shocking parking efforts in the country.

A quick scan of the page shows cars parking across two parking spaces, across driveways, and dangerously close to other vehicles, including trucks.

One post shows a black hatchback barely halfway inside a designated parking spot, with most of the front of the vehicle protruding onto the road.

The founder of the group – who wished to remain anonymous – said he started the page after a friend began sharing photos of lazy parkers.

‘We only really ever wanted to provide a laugh and a place where others feel comfortable doing the same,’ he told the Courier Mail.

‘Maybe along the way we educate a few people as well.’

The founder said the development of the page had been a ‘steady organic journey’.

Founder of Facebook group Malaka parking said he was surprised at the growth of the page

‘Although there have been occasions where a post explodes with people tagging family and friends, resulting in a several thousand member increase at once,’ he said.

The founder added he was surprised at the continued growth of the page even though the organisers had ‘made it quite niche’.

‘The most heart-warming element of it, where you’ll often see comments or actual posts from members pointing out how conscious they are of their own parking to the degree of getting back in their cars to correct it at times,’ he said.
