An Australian label has banked $9,000 in just four weeks by selling stylish silk hair accessories on social media.

Damn Gina, a newly launched Melbourne-based brand, is flogging luxurious scrunchies and chic turbans specially designed to protect and strengthen curly tresses.

Made from organic cotton and mulberry silk, the highest quality silk in the world, the turbans claim to extend the length of time between washes, saving you time on styling and protecting hair from frizz and split ends.

Available in black and orange, the $49.95 turbans are being hailed as the must-have accessory of the summer – but you’ll have to wait for a restock because they’re completely sold out online.

Curly-haired Instagram influencers and reality stars, including The Bachelor alum Abbie Chatfield (pictured) have posted photos in the turbans on social media

Curly-haired Instagram influencers and reality stars, including The Bachelor alum Abbie Chatfield, have posted photos in the turbans on social media.

Described as ‘chic enough to wear outdoors and comfy enough to wear indoors’ on the brand’s official Instagram, the turbans protect curls from humidity and static by softly encasing hair.

Over 65 percent of women have some form of textured hair, which means the market for curl-focused products is enormous.

Damn Gina founder Sue Jayanth said response to the collection has been ‘absolutely mind blowing’.

‘As a curly girl, I knew other women out there would be looking for something versatile to wear indoors and outdoors, but I did not think it would sell out and have a waiting list!’ she told Daily Mail Australia.

‘I am glad a simple product like this can help so many “curlies” out there and those who want to maintain their blow dries.’

The brand also stock silk pillowcases and hair scrunchies (pictured), which reduce damage and breakage when hair is tied back

‘Female empowerment and self-love has shaped the previous decade and extended to “curlies” across the world putting down their styling tools in a bid to embrace their natural hair,’ the brand said in a statement.

‘Damn Gina has given the old school bonnet a much-needed refresh by turning it into a sexy and chic silk-lined turban.

‘Made from the highest quality 27-momme mulberry silk, you’ll be proud to rock the turban on long haul flights, road trips or poolside.’

White silk pillowcases for $79.95 and $35 eye masks in a variety of trendy shades are also available on the brand’s official website.

The label is preparing to release a silk-lined gym hat, perfect for keeping hair fresh during sweaty workouts, early next year.
