Australians could double their annual leave time in 2021 by booking off key dates

How some sneaky planning could DOUBLE your annual leave in 2021 – earning a ten day break by booking just three days off

  • Australians could double their annual leave in 2021 by booking off key dates
  • This is due to public holidays and weekends bookending the leave periods
  • For instance, ten days off at Christmas could be secured by taking off three days

Clever planning could allow Australians to double their annual leave at certain times of the year when booking a handful of days off in 2021.

With state borders opening, Australians are keen to shake off the feeling of lockdown and explore their own backyard, with overseas travel still banned.

Workers could enjoy a ten day holiday at Christmas when booking just three days off due to weekends and public holidays bookending those dates.

The holiday would go from December 25 until January 3 off by simply rostering off December 29 to 31.

Just weeks later, the same could be done again thanks to the Australia Day public holiday by booking January 25, 27, 28 and 29 off to get a nine-day break that starts on January 23.

Travellers could also score a ten-day-long holiday in April by booking just four days off around Easter.

The holiday would be from April 2 to 11 if you book from April 6 to 9 off.

Another time period where people can grab an extra break without using all their annual leave is during the Anzac Day period.

People can get nine days off from April 24 to May 2 by simply booking between April 27 and 30 as leave.

This includes Good Friday, Easter Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

For Christmas 2021, people just need to book off the same period as 2020 to get the same amount of leave.
