  • Panic buying has erupted in South Australian bottle shops ahead of lockdown

Bottle shops have been overrun by desperate South Australians stocking up on alcohol as the state enters into a strict six-day lockdown.

Residents will be stuck inside their homes from midnight on Wednesday, only being permitted to leave for ‘essentials’ as the state scrambles to tackle a new strain of coronavirus

While supermarkets will operate with limited times, from 6pm on Wednesday, all liquor stores will close to the public.

Alarming footage has since emerged of lines spilling down the street outside one bottle shop in Glenelg, in Adelaide, as residents race to buy their liquor.
