Billie Piper finds herself thrust into an unwanted spotlight in her new highly-anticipated Sky Atlantic series I Hate Suzie.

The drama series sees the actress play title character Suzie, who has her life thrown into disarray when a photo of her in a compromising position emerges online. 

The show follows Suzie as she slowly begins to unravel after the photo is published, the effects of which ricochet into every area of her life.

As the episodes go on, the audience follows Suzie as she goes through stages of shock, denial, fear, shame, guilt, anger and eventually, acceptance.  

Suzie, who appears to have a career in the public eye as an actress, is seen in the trailer enjoying family life with her husband and child interspersed with the horror she feels when she learns the secret images of her have been made public.

She is also seen posing for selfies with fans, getting angry with someone in the street and running frantically through the woods.

Throughout the trailer, we hear Suzie try to make the case to an audience that the newly released images are not actually her as she tries to salvage her reputation.

As the fallout continues, Suzie and  her best friend and manager Naomi (Leila Farzad) try to hold her life, career and marriage to Cob (Daniel Ings) together.

I Hate Suzie is the latest TV project from Billie, who recently spoke about her new film Rare Beasts which she directed and also plays lead character Mandy.

Speaking to the Evening Standardthe actress explained she wrote the film ‘at a time when I felt like the world was telling us [women] we could have it all and I was trying to experience that myself.’

She told the publication: ‘I started writing it at 30, which is when I feel like I had a rude awakening. All I could see around me was common casualties, certainly in women. I too was finding it… I was floundering.’

‘Because it is a wonderful idea. But quite often the reality is that it is incredibly hard and stressful.

‘And I’ve personally seen the uglier side of that. And I didn’t feel like anyone was talking about that with full transparency.’
