Black Widow trailer brings Natasha Romanoff back with her family and new villain Taskmaster

During the college football national championship game on Monday night, Marvel Studios unveiled a new trailer for this summer’s Black Widow.

The trailer (via Marvel Studios YouTube) also revealed a new look at the villain who the title character (Scarlett Johansson will square off against, known as Taskmaster.

While little is known about the villain, the character has a unique gift, the ability to copy any move his opponent does instantly.

The trailer opens with Black Widow lying on a rooftop, aiming a sniper rifle at an unseen target, before she heads into a apartment building and grabs a gun from a hidden area.

‘Natasha, my sister, after all this time, what brings you home?’ says her sister, Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh) says as she walks into their kitchen.

Natasha tells her sister that she’s, ‘on the run,’ as a cadre of cops in tactical gear are seen busting down the door as Natasha explains, ‘I was trying to do something good.’

Natasha adds that she’s, ‘trying to be more than a trained killer,’ but Yelena thinks she’s, ‘fooling herself,’ because they are, ‘still both trained killers.’

The sisters are then seen taking off together on a motorcycle while being chased by other black-clad bikers, with Natasha telling Yelena in another scene that, ‘we have unfinished business. 

When Yelena asks, ‘Who’s we?’ the trailer reveals Red Guardian (David Harbour), described as a ‘fatherly figure’ to Romanoff, and Melina Vostokoff (Rachel Weisz) in action.

Red Guardian is then seen in his full costume, as he marvels that it, ‘still fits’ while sitting down with Natasha, Yelena and Melina.

‘Family, back together again,’ Red Guardian states, while looking over his unique family, but Melina takes a jab at him stating, ‘You got fat,’ as he adds, ‘it’s mainly water weight.’

Natasha explains that there are a, ‘new world of Widows,’ who went through the same training program that Natasha and her sister went through.

Towards the end of the trailer, Natasha says she’s done running from her past, when she gets her first look at the villainous Taskmaster.

She’s seen firing her weapon at this villain, but the Taskmaster easily deflects the bullets with its unique shield.

The trailer ends with a number of action packed shots, including Black Widow flying through the air, seemingly without a parachute.

When she asks, ‘Who is that guy?’ the Taskmaster is seen snapping to his/her feet right when Natasha does, as we get our first look at the Taskmaster’s mask as the trailer comes to an end.

Marvel Studios’ Black Widow hits theaters nationwide on May 1.
